Yes, all dogs are spayed/neutered before adoption unless they are puppies under a certain age. In those cases, adopters sign a spay/neuter agreement to complete the procedure when the dog is old enough.
Yes, all dogs are microchipped before going to their adoptive homes. This helps ensure they have permanent identification should they ever become lost.
Yes, every dog is vaccinated according to their age before adoption. Puppies receive their initial vaccines, while adult dogs are fully up-to-date on core vaccinations to ensure they’re protected.
Many of our dogs are comfortable around children, but each has a unique temperament. We evaluate each dog’s behavior and will indicate in their profile if they are suitable for families with kids. We’re also happy to discuss any specific questions you have about a dog’s compatibility with children.
Yes! We arrange meet-and-greets for approved applicants so you can spend time with the dog and ask any questions before making a decision.
Unfortunately, we cannot hold dogs. We operate on a first come, first serve basis and plan meet and greets accordingly with approved applicants. If you are interested in a dog, fill out the application right away. If we are having an adoption event, we recommend arriving early.
Unfortunately, many dogs that we save entered the shelter as strays or were surrendered by their owners with little or no information. We do our best to include any information about their history in their profile if it is known. Otherwise, we will always report information about their personalities and health and training based on how they've done in our program.
We specialize in herding breeds, such as Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, and Heelers. However, we often take in mixes and other breeds in urgent need, particularly those on death row at shelters. Our priority is to find each dog a safe, loving home, regardless of their breed.
